Hello, I am Laura Glenn, riding instructor and owner of Sunshine Stables
Laura Glenn, Owner/Operator, Sunshine Stables, riding Mia

This is an old photography of  Laura C  Glenn , owner and operator of Sunshine Stables , as a 12 year old, riding my wonderful mare, Bid Leo Miss (Sally) in United States Pony Club South Region competition at Kentucky Horse Park, Lexington KY (blue ribbon in show jumping!!!)
About Me: I know it is important for parents and adult riders to know something about their riding instructor and party coordinator! I was trained to care for and ride horses through the Huntsville Pony Club in the United States Pony Club (USPC) Certified Program. I began riding under the tutelage of certified USPC instructors at age 8. I also participated in many equine clinics with instructors like Jim Graham who competed on the US equestrian team for the Olympics. I am trained and competed in hunter, jumper, dressage, and cross country events in Alabama and other states, I successfully placed first in stadium jumping events at the USPC Mid South Region Rally, against hundreds of competitors, at Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Ky.

In other words, I know my way around with horses! This includes teaching kids and adults about grooming, tacking, feeding, and overall horse care, horse safety, basic riding techniques, advanced horsemanship, and horse health. And it is very important to me to make riding fun and relaxed. I am not in any hurry and I want everyone to feel comfortable and happy with horses. Recently, I attended a clinic about Equine Therapy.I plan to pursue this cerification to work with children and adults who are mentally or physically challenged using horses.

I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Work from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and I hold licensed graduate social worker, LGSW, licensure in the state of Alabama. I completed a Master of Social Work Degree from Alabama A & M University in May 2011. I have worked with children and adults in a variety of clinical and social service settings in my career.

My husband Jim and I moved back to Hartselle AL in February 2014 after living near Athens, Georgia. Jim is in poultry management and I worked in Athens as a mental health clinician. AND I acquired two new horses that I brought back to Hartselle with me to use at Sunshine Stables. .

It has been my lifelong dream to work with horses and share this love of horses with others. I believe it builds character, confidence, leadership, and self esteem too. And I know for a fact that there is no better way to enjoy life than connecting with horses and nature through horseback riding. We look forward to sharing this way of life with you at Sunshine Stables!

Meet some of our staff:  My husband Jim is a great helper and experienced horseman and loves kids and stable friends Jonathan Wynne and Challie Johnson who are experienced riders who keep horses at the farm and help with lessons, bush hogging, barn management and much more.
